This was wonderful to read because the way you've explained it is filled with such great energy and sense of purpose. I can imagine how that feels--you're empowering someone through language, giving them tools that you use so well and, ultimately, offering them part of your world. In many ways, the confines of language--the ability it gives us to define and focus our feelings--also offers us so much unrealized freedom. Usually, we don't even consider this until we're dropped in a foreign country without the ability to speak the language well. When I first arrived in Germany, I could speak at an acceptable level, but when I got tired, even the simplest things were hard for me to put into words. And you begin to feel like a baby without the ability to express yourself, other than poking the air, making faces, and using monosyllables. So being able to empower someone this way and sharing your gift, is something that's invaluable to enriching that other person's life.
