W.I.P. Blog Tour, Christopher Bowen

This week I was tagged in the Works-In-Progress Blog Tour by Jane Rosenberg LaForge.

Aside from trying to place a sixty-some page collection of fiction with a small press, I’ve also been working on another novella and/or novel. The working title of the story is simply “Nathan” and it follows a young man who is raised by the sea and his obsession with water that develops into an almost autistic understanding and  O.C.D. compulsion for it.

The beginning of the manuscript has a favorite quote by Anais Nin and a lot of the story so far has been influenced by my reading of Iron John, by Robert Bly.

In Iron John, Bly relates the mythological and stereotypical roles of men in society using the storyline of the Grimm fairy tale Iron John as a basis.

The work is far from over (it’s only at fifteen, very tightly edited pages), but I’m hoping to pull of a sort of Jonathan Livingston Seagull vibe with the overall story.

At this point, Nathan is at summer camp the summer before high school…
